The Rada registered the impeachment bill introduced by Zelensky
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has submitted an impeachment bill to the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Zelensky’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk during a briefing near the AP building.
“President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, as promised, today submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on a special procedure for removing the President from office - impeachment. Along with this bill, the President’s appeal was once again submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, so that Verkhovna Rada does not forget that it has a bill that would abolish parliamentary immunity. It would be fair for us to pass these two bills together,” Stefanchuk noted.
Meanwhile, as reported on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the draft law “On a special procedure for removing the President of Ukraine from office (impeachment)” has been registered in parliament. The initiator of the project is President Vladimir Zelensky. The text of the bill is not yet available on the Rada website.
The bill is currently being considered by the Regulations Committee.
Introducing an impeachment bill was one of Zelensky’s campaign promises and was mentioned by him in his inauguration speech.
