For the sake of Crimea, Russia will sacrifice the Taman port and the bridge over the Lena
Moscow - Simferopol, May 14 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The Russian government will sacrifice two major projects to finance transport infrastructure in Crimea. Abandoning the port of Taman and the bridge across the Lena will free up 112 billion rubles, which will go to the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin, Kommersant reports.

According to the Minister of Economy of the Russian Federation, Alexey Ulyukaev, the implementation of these projects is less and less relevant: there is no need for Taman, because “there are five deep-water ports in Crimea”, and traffic on the bridge over the Lena is “not obvious”. Mr. Ulyukaev noted that the state has a reserve of 243 billion rubles, another 112 billion rubles. are considered as an additional source for Crimea.
The publication recalls that at first the government wanted to cut state funding for the Murmansk Transport Hub (MTU) by 75%, which would have given 31,5 billion rubles. But this attempt was repulsed by Rosneft President Igor Sechin (the company intends to gain control in the management company MTU). As a result, Vladimir Putin announced on April 24 that the state would not reduce funding for MTU.
