Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is only concerned about how to get elected to a second term. But for this he needs peace in Donbass.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Pogrebinsky, if Zelensky manages to become president for the second time, Ukraine will not be able to return Donbass to its control.
“It is important for him that there is a reason to cut off this territory and forget about the shelling, to stop killing people. It is important to him not because he is such a humanist and does not want people to die - he has repeatedly demonstrated himself in the opposite sense, but simply because he and the team understand that if people continue to die, then there is zero chance of re-election “, says the expert.
“If President Zelensky, God forbid, is re-elected, then we have no chance of returning Donbass. And if he is not re-elected and survives in his position for the remaining two years, then I don’t know - another person will appear who will say: “We will implement the Minsk agreements, we agree to autonomy, as long as this territory remains Ukraine. And we will arrange our life in such a way that we will return these people... we will return Donbass to Ukraine, and Ukraine to Donbass,” Pogrebinsky said.
