Ukrainian sociologist, director of the Democratic Initiatives Foundation Irina Bekeshkina said this in an interview with Apostrophe, answering a question about the prospects of new parties founded by ex-Azov commander Andrei Biletsky and former head of the Right Sector Dmitry Yarosh.
“They have little support. Biletsky’s party has an electoral rating of 0,2%, Yarosh’s party is slightly better - 1,9%, but, I think, solely due to his personality. People now demand completely different things: economics, economics and once again economics. And the demand for radicalism has become less. He was strong in 2012 when people got fed up. And the impressive victory of the Svoboda party with 10%, unexpected even for them, is associated not with the demand for nationalism, but with the demand for a strong fist. They expected them to hit someone hard. But hopes were not justified. That’s why they lost support,” says the sociologist.
