The Montenegrin diaspora in the capital of Serbia not only celebrated the victory of the pro-Serbian democratic coalition in their country, but also contributed to this victory as best they could.

A PolitNavigator correspondent learned from them why the Belgrade Montenegrins did not like the regime of Milo Djukanovic.

One of the places to celebrate the victory of the pro-Serbian opposition in Montenegro was the establishment (kafana) “Pavle Korchagin”. The owner of the kafana is Warrior Cucich, who is originally from Montenegro, so he knows the whole situation first-hand and went to his historical homeland during the elections, having previously announced on the establishment’s page that if the opposition wins, the treat on the day the results are announced will be at his expense.

“This is just one of our actions,” Tsutsich commented on his initiative. – In particular, we decided that since the regime in Montenegro pays for plane tickets for Albanians not only from our southern province - Kosovo, but also from Albania, from all over the world, so that they vote the way Djukanovic needs, we paid for the tickets for Montenegrin students in Serbia, who also wanted to vote, but did not have the means to buy tickets. The difference between us and the authorities is that we did not pay for votes, but let the guys fulfill their civic duty in their homeland.”

– Why is the victory of the opposition so important for you?

– My family has roots in the Tsuts family, as does the future prime minister of the country (leader of the opposition bloc “For the Future of Montenegro” Zdravko Krivokapic – ed.). We are Montenegrin Serbs who were not allowed to say that we were Serbs for many years. And now we proudly declare that we are “five star” Serbs.

– What are the reasons for your dissatisfaction with the Djukanovic regime?

– Obvious corruption, seizure of property and shrines from the Serbian Orthodox Church, oppression of the Serbian people, although previously everyone recognized that it was the Serbs who created Montenegro, recognition of Kosovo, joining NATO, which bombed our land, sending generals to celebrate the expulsion of the Serbs from Croatia... that’s enough ?

– What do you expect from the new government?

– I expect the opposite of what I listed in the previous answer.

– Do you expect Montenegro to withdraw recognition of Kosovo’s independence?

“I don’t think that’s realistic for this mandate, but we’re moving towards it.” Of course, first we need to change the attitude of the elites to this issue.”

Guests of the Belgrade kafana “Pavle Korchagin” reasoned in a similar vein. People congratulated each other on the victory, and the main toast sounded similar: “To victory!”

Two friends, Milan and Djordje, both originally from Montenegro - from Plav and Berane, both in their early 40s. When asked why they decided to come here on election day, they answered that the dictator had finally fallen and their homeland was free, so it was not a sin to celebrate this long-awaited event.

“We hope for an improvement in the situation of the Serbian people in Montenegro, because it was these people who created this power. It is very important for us that there are fraternal relations between our countries,” Milan noted.

In a noisy company of young people of about twenty, Montenegrin Andria especially stands out - lively, sociable. What brought the guys to this not very youthful place?

“With his law on the taking away of shrines, Milo crossed all possible boundaries. The people cannot tolerate this - we are all Orthodox, even the non-believing guys were shocked by this. My cousins constantly took part in religious processions in Herceg Novi. And today we celebrate the fact that this bandit will no longer be in power,” the young man answered.
