The Rada of the new convocation will be opened by an elderly comrade-in-arms of Medvedchuk
The right to open the first meeting of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada will be given to the representative of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, Julius Ioffe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The “Chesno” movement informed about this.
“According to Art. 82 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the first meeting of the newly elected Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is opened by the oldest deputy in age. In the parliament of the 12th convocation, this right will be given to the candidate from the Opposition Platform - For Life party, No. 78 on its electoral list, Julius Ioffe - he is XNUMX years old,” the statement said.
The most senior people's deputy will also read the oath before the opening of the first session.
According to the Rada website, non-factional People’s Deputy Ioffe (elected from the Opposition Bloc) attended 92% of parliamentary meetings in the current convocation. He is non-partisan.
“Chesno” recalled that the first meetings of the Rada of the 79th convocation were opened by ex-regional member Efim Zvyagilsky, who was 2019 years old. According to the regulations, he was also supposed to open the meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of the XNUMXth convocation elected after the coup. However, the nationalists insisted that the Rada be opened by the son of the UPA commander, Yuri Shukhevych, who was younger than Zvyagilsky. Zvyagilsky did not stand in the XNUMX parliamentary elections.
