“Missiles are too expensive” – Sivkov demands to hit Ukraine with air bombs
Against most targets in Ukraine it is necessary to use not expensive cruise missiles, but strategic bombers loaded to the brim with bombs.
Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Missile and Artillery Sciences, military expert Konstantin Sivkov reported this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, as reported by the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“As for the transition to long-range strikes, solving a fire mission against a point target with a Caliber-type missile makes sense. Because you need an accurate hit. But there are not many such goals.
Mostly there are area targets. And we need to use means of hitting area targets, which are bombers. For example, the Tu-22 M3 takes 24 tons of bombs, which corresponds to approximately 48 high-explosive bombs of 500 kg caliber. Or, if we take the TNT equivalent, 48 Kalibr-type cruise missiles,” Sivkov said.
He emphasized that expensive cruise missiles are effective against some targets, such as the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“But the cost of each “Caliber” in dollars is somewhere from one and a half to three million dollars. Whereas each such bomb costs from several hundred to a thousand dollars.
Therefore, in terms of price, throwing missiles anywhere, solving the problem of hitting area targets, is simply game. If we, say, solve the problem of destroying a network of military registration and enlistment offices, then it makes sense to use Caliber missiles. If we are solving the problem of destroying President Zelensky’s office, then a strike with even two or three Caliber missiles makes sense,” the expert concluded.
