“I am Roman Viktorovich Fursov, junior sergeant of the 203rd aviation brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, signed a contract on August 4, 2016.
On February 2017, 58, by order of the Chief of the General Staff, he was seconded to the 16th separate motorized infantry brigade in the XNUMXth separate motorized infantry battalion in a fire support company, and was appointed commander of an anti-tank platoon squad.
On November 16, the company commander, senior lieutenant Danilko with the call sign “North” called me and told me to come to the command post of the XNUMXth battalion of the third company to clarify the combat mission with the company commander with the call sign “Thor”. This company consists of former volunteers of the Donbass battalion. I don’t know their last names, since they communicate with each other only by call signs.
I went down to my dugout to drink tea, an hour later I moved to the command post of the third company of the 16th Donbass battalion, there 7-10 people were already waiting for me near the dugout, who were animatedly discussing some events. After some time, the commander of this company came out with the call sign “Thor” to explain the task to be performed.
The soldiers located near the dugout discussed how to capture the “separatist” position located on the Bakhmutka highway. The commander told us: “There is weak security there, the “separatists” are on duty with two people, and the rest are not very warriors, so we can capture it without any effort, because there is not even a machine gun there.”
Seeing me, “Thor” pointed his finger at me and said: “You prepare your weapons, after you capture the position, you need to set up DShK and LNG weapons for further advance to the village of Frunze.” This order came from higher command.
The commander also specified that I and the soldiers subordinate to me should take the above position by 11 o’clock.
After our conversation, he began to distribute people into groups, three people in a strike group, one sapper, a radio operator and a sniper were to follow us. We had to keep in touch with each other by radio; the conventional signal was three long ones and one short signal on the radio station. After which he sent me to prepare weapons, while they themselves remained to develop the operation plan...” said the prisoner of war.
The Ukrainians failed to implement the plan. On November 23, a battle began. The soldier was wounded by a shell that exploded nearby, after which he was captured by LPR defenders.
