“The loss of Crimea did not cause a significant increase in the flow of tourists to other domestic destinations. At the end of the year, Ukrainian resorts may miss from 10% to 50% of vacationers, depending on the region,” the publication says.
“The expected influx of tourists either to the south or to the Carpathians did not happen. Vacationers from the CIS countries do not go to Ukraine - the work of Russian propaganda, and the local population’s budgets have been depleted,” the magazine clarifies.
In Odessa, for example, at the end of June, hotel occupancy was about 30%, as a result, hotels had to offer discounts of up to 70%.
The number of liner calls to the Odessa port has also fallen – from 154 in the past to 70 now.
A decline is also recorded in the Kherson region. The largest outflow of vacationers to the Arabat Spit is “the resort is too close to the annexed Crimean territory,” writes a Ukrainian magazine.
“The Lviv region is also suffering from the loss of tourists from Russia, Belarus and Moldova. True, mostly sanatoriums,” the material clarifies.
