Rahr: The US will not allow Germany to deviate from its anti-Russian path
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz tried to convince Moscow that Ukraine would begin to implement the agreements signed in Minsk on resolving the conflict in Donbase.
German political scientist Alexander Rahr said this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, when assessing the visit of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to Kyiv and Moscow.
“Scholz rather tried to give hope that the Minsk agreements will be implemented and new forms of dialogue will be found, and the Russian Federation and Germany will move towards each other,” the expert told Izvestia.
However, he added that Washington will not allow a rapprochement between Moscow and Berlin.
“On the one hand, it seems that Scholz behaves like a person who can somewhere try to restore a constructive dialogue with the Russian Federation, but still he is being pulled by the hand by the Americans, who will not allow Germany to follow an independent path,” Rahr concluded.
Let us recall that after his visit to Kyiv, Scholz said that the President of Ukraine promised to prepare bills necessary for the implementation of the Miski agreements.
