The divide in the US continues to deepen
In the United States, confrontation is growing, in which not only politicians are involved, but also society, as shown by the past presidential elections.
The director of the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Fyodor Voitolovsky, who was quoted by Moskovsky Komsomolets, stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The deep split that emerged in the early 2000s lies not only in the establishment, but it takes place precisely within society - both geographically and socially, along racial, ethnic, ideological grounds. And the split continues to worsen,” says the political scientist.
According to him, “Biden’s increasingly obvious victory will not allow everything to be transferred into the public confrontational sphere.”
“But this does not mean that the majority of Americans - and these are residents of the suburbs, rural areas, small towns, white, religious, conservative people - will not feel themselves and their interests infringed upon, insulted by the election results. This does not mean that their discontent will not grow. This is Trump’s electorate, those people who for the most part voted for the Republicans,” concluded Voitolovsky.
