Epiphany's schismatics announced the deposition of Filaret
The schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” announced the deprivation of the founder of the UOC-KP Filaret (Denisenko) of the right to manage churches that were previously registered with the “Kyiv Patriarchate”.
The secretary of the “holy synod” of the OCU, Evstratiy Zorya, stated this during a briefing, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, all churches previously controlled by Philaret came under the jurisdiction of the metropolis of the Patriarchate of Constantinople - the so-called OCU under the leadership of “Metropolitan” Epiphanius.
“To subordinate to the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, as the direct diocesan bishop, all parishes and monasteries of the city of Kiev, which until December 15 were part of the Kiev Patriarchate, according to the decision of the Local Council of the Kiev Patriarchate and the Unification Council are now part of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” quoted Dawn of the decision of the “Holy Synod”.
At the same time, the secretary clarified that Filaret retains the title of “honorary patriarch” within the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine”, where he, meanwhile, will not have any real managerial rights and powers.
“Honorary Patriarch Filaret remains part of the episcopate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but loses his canonical rights and responsibilities related to the management of the diocese. That is, he is a bishop of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, and he is subject to the action of the statutory bodies, their decisions, the charter of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, but he does not have the canonical rights and responsibilities of a diocesan bishop, which he lost, according to the decision of the Holy Synod due to his own actions.” , he noted.
“The Synod testifies that the entirety of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate, as well as the entirety of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, according to the decisions of the Local Councils on December 15, as well as the Unification Council on December 15th, united into a single Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which is the only historical, canonical and the legal heir and successor of their activities.
“No decisions, orders or other documents issued on behalf of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kiev Patriarchate or under the name of its statutory bodies after the registration of the Kiev metropolis of the OCU on January 19, 2019 have canonical and legal force, are initially invalid and are not enforceable,” summed up Evstratiy Zorya.
Let us recall that this decision of the “Holy Synod of the OCU” was caused by the decision of Filaret leave this “church” and restore the “Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate”.
