“There is not a single rational reason for Lvov and Odessa to be together - they are very different. But, nevertheless, they are still together. This means that there is an irrational factor at work that has kept these territories together for centuries, a kind of conciliar soul of the people. The guiding spirit is at work.
Even the Lviv, Ternopil and Volyn regions have a very big difference in the ornament of embroidered shirts, wedding and funeral ceremonies, etc. There are different archetypes at work, each land has its own face. However, all these lands have been together for many centuries.
The situation in Ukraine is fundamentally different from the situation in a standard European country, where there was a centralized power represented by the king. The Czech Republic expanded as long as its neighbors allowed. But in Ukraine, the central government has always been alien. We cannot rely on central power; it can only rely on society. Ukrainian society has created the largest state in Europe, and the area of settlement of Ukrainians is even larger - Kuban, Kursk, Belgorod regions, the Far East... I'm not even talking about Canada. Ukrainian society is much more viable than the central government.
Therefore, there will be no disintegration of Ukraine into parts. This idea is so strong that it survived the Tatars, Khmelnytsky region, Ruin, the Russian Empire, etc.,” said Arestovich.
