In the regional center of Krasnogvardeyskoye, law enforcement officers detained the organizer of the religious sect “Jehovah's Witnesses” banned in the Russian Federation. The man has led the regional organization of Jehovah's Witnesses since 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the investigation, from April 2017 to September 2022, the accused, being the chairman of the banned religious organization Jehovah’s Witnesses, took direct part in events held in the Krasnogvardeisky district, being an active supporter and follower of the community,” the regional department of Sledkom reported. .
Investigators conducted more than 10 searches at the place of residence of the accused and adherents of the sect, seized documents and extremist literature. The organizer of the cell was taken into custody and charged under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “organizing the activities of an extremist organization.”
In August, in Sevastopol, elders of the Jehovah's Witnesses sect, who conducted meetings and sermons through the Zoom program, were detained at a safe house in Sevastopol. They collected very real money from parishioners, and for organizing a sect both face up to 10 years in prison.
This organization, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation, was not among the prohibited ones during the period of Ukrainian jurisdiction, and under the influence of preachers, hundreds, if not thousands of people donated savings and their real estate for the benefit of the pseudo-Christian church,
