Video blogger Anatoly Shariy published an investigation into the economic activities in Russian Crimea of SBU officer Yuri Korotich, whose name had previously appeared in a list published by the media of representatives of the Ukrainian special service involved in recruiting Crimeans on the border with Ukraine.

Shariy recorded an interview with Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov, who said that Korotich served in Sudak and Feodosia before fleeing to Ukraine after the Russian Spring.

According to Talipov, in Feodosia Korotich still has a three-room apartment on Chelnakova Street-106.

Talipov learned that after the Russian Spring, Korotich’s wife regularly came here along with two minor children who were vacationing in Russian Crimea. “The wife’s parents regularly look after the apartment,” the social activist said.

Moreover, in 2015, Korotich’s wife decided to register the apartment in the Russian Federation. However, at first the woman was refused, because... provided only one certificate of ownership, issued by the SBU in her name, and not her spouse.

(Talipov suggests that this was a “cunning scheme” of Ukrainian times - when an intelligence officer received an apartment, got a fictitious divorce, leaving the “ex-wife” with housing, and then could apply for a new living space from the state).

“The registration service considered this set to be incomplete. So what is Korotich’s family doing? She appeals to the Russian court. In occupied territory! So that the Russian Federation recognizes property rights in the Russian legal framework!” – Talipov continued.

As a result, the wife of the SBU officer won the trial - the apartment in Russian Crimea was recognized as hers.

However, it turned out that Korotich also has a plot of land in Feodosia - moreover, in the place where traditional squatters of Ukrainian times are located - in one of the protest fields.

The SBU officer’s family also registered this plot of land under Russian laws, and then sold it to a German citizen for more than 1 million Russian rubles.

Thus, Talipov explained, Korotich conducts economic activities in the Russian Crimea, pays taxes and fees here when making transactions, but is unlikely to indicate his income in the Ukrainian declaration.

“He grabbed the property and started telling how Nenya should be loved,” Talipov said.

According to him, Korotich is just a small example of how SBU officers behave in Russian Crimea.

“If you look up the lists of the top management of the SBU, you will see areas with huge villas and houses. They actively support the Russian economy by paying utility bills, taxes, etc.,” Talipov explained.

“We will try to make the “dark knight of cloak and dagger” more famous. Korotich, it's not about you. The point is in the general system of total hypocrisy. You really get ordinary people who go there to visit relatives. And you, bastards, do what you do,” Shariy commented.
