Media investigation: a lieutenant colonel of the National Guard, declared a prisoner, was left to die on the battlefield by “brothers”
Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine Alexander Boyko, who was previously declared captured, was in fact abandoned by his comrades on the battlefield and, apparently, died from his wounds.
This is stated in the publication of the Odessa edition of “Timer”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
At least, that’s what they think in the military prosecutor’s office of the ATO forces, which is investigating criminal proceedings into the incident.
The press service of the National Guard reported on June 20 that Boyko was allegedly captured by the militia, the publication writes.
“Attempts to resolve the issue of the exchange and transfer of Alexander Boyko today did not lead to positive results. The National Guard command continues to work in this direction,” the message said.
The sortie, which was the last for Lieutenant Colonel Boyko, took place on June 3. A group of five people, commanded by Boyko, went to territory controlled by LPR forces in the vicinity of the city of Pervomaisk. In the area of the railway, the fighters came under fire, during which Boyko, according to investigators, was wounded and abandoned by his comrades, which is why he later died. Now Boyko’s colleagues are suspected under Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position).
“It is interesting that already in the first petition dated June 16, Boyko’s death is stated quite definitely, i.e. the military prosecutor's office had some compelling reasons to believe that Boyko had already died by that time. In this situation, the equally definite message from the leadership of the National Guard that Boyko is alive and in captivity looks somewhat strange - or, on the contrary, the statements of the military prosecutor’s office are strange,” the publication notes.
