Executions on the Maidan - the GPU justifies them with bad microscopes
Investigators and experts involved in the investigation of crimes on the Maidan do not have sufficient financial and logistical support to conduct the investigation properly.
The head of the special investigations department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine, Sergei Gorbatyuk, said this at a briefing dedicated to the anniversary of the Maidan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why do the systems of expert institutions, for example, Mitnusta, still use microscopes manufactured in 1969, and no measures are taken to improve them in order to buy new equipment? It is purchased exclusively at the request of the families of the heavenly hundred, which they repeatedly voice to the leadership of the state, having such an opportunity when reporting during anniversaries,” the investigator was indignant.
He said that the examinations appointed in 2015-2016 have not yet been carried out, because there are not enough experts.
“And at the same time, the legislator decides to limit the investigation to a year. The examinations will be carried out for 2-3 years, and you, investigators and prosecutors, please manage to complete the pre-trial investigation within a year. Why do forensic experts receive virtually no government funding or logistical support to conduct examinations? There are no funds allocated for salaries, paperwork, equipment purchases, etc. At the same time (I don’t have data, but they say) that high-quality, expensive equipment is allocated to the hospital in Feofania every year,” Gorbatyuk said.
