Undressed Filaret again declared himself a “patriarch”
The so-called primate of the “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” Metropolitan Epifaniy, elected last Saturday, will be nothing more than a “calling card” of the schismatics.
In fact, the affairs of the church will be managed and headed by the still anathematized former priest of the Russian Orthodox Church, “patriarch” Filaret.
He himself announced this to parishioners during Sunday service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It was said that Epiphanius would represent the schismatics at the international level, but only until they were given the status of a patriarchate and not a metropolitanate.
“At this council, Metropolitan Epifaniy was elected primate. And you have a question - what about the patriarch? The Patriarch remains patriarch for life and, together with the primate, leads the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Together. But he, as the primate, as the recipient of the tomos, will represent the church from the outside until the time comes for us to be recognized not as a metropolis, but as a patriarchate.
Because we are now recognized as a metropolis and are required to elect a primate. And when we are recognized as a patriarchy, then the patriarch will represent the Ukrainian church from the outside. But in order for us to be recognized as a patriarchate, and not a metropolitanate, we need to unite, the entire Ukrainian Orthodoxy,” said Filaret.
As PolitNavigator reported, last Saturday in Ukraine created a new church led by Epifaniy Dumenko, a native of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate”, considered the “right hand” of Mikhail “Filaret” Denisenko, anathematized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
