Termination of gas contracts is just the “icing on the cake” that Russia will present to Ukraine
Gazprom can easily take advantage of the discriminatory decision of the Stockholm arbitration, which does not allow the Russian monopolist to reduce the volume of gas transit through Ukraine.

Publicist Dmitry Lekukh stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station.
“When I learned about the decision of the Stockholm arbitration, I thought that Gazprom would now begin to applaud. After all, fines to Gazprom will fall on the shoulders of consumers. And in Europe they understand this. Therefore, let's stop working with the Ukrainian gas transportation system and launch Nord Stream 2. But they found an even more Jesuitical solution. They filed an appeal and are organizing dances on Ukrainian bones,” Lekukh said.
He noted the special interest of the EU and Germany in particular in the supply of pipeline gas. He believes that gas transit is only part of the transit problems that await Ukraine.
“It’s not clear what the guys are thinking there. It was clear when global Eurasian transit began that we had to run and jump to be friends with this route. We have already bypassed the Baltic ports, then the Ukrainian Black Sea ports. Gas is just the icing on the cake here,” Lekouh said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv admitted that “victory” in the Stockholm arbitration turned into a disaster: Ukraine fell into Gazprom's trap.
