“No teacher on his own will lead a child or class to the Yeltsin Center.” So this is the director's order. The director is given the order by the regional education department. It needs to be cleaned somehow. We need to get serious about this. It’s one thing when there is a monument to the former president and some tea parties are held. But when children are taken there centrally by order, this is completely unacceptable. It is necessary to deal specifically with each such case. I will make parliamentary inquiries, and we will get to the bottom of that reptile, even if it is the regional minister of education, who gives orders to take children to the Yeltsin Center. I will crush this reptile,” said Matveychev.

Earlier, TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, who supervises Ural.live, who called Yekaterinburg “the center of disgusting liberation,” said that the Yeltsin Center is still needed “as a building, but it must tell the truth.”

The institution is already fulfilling the wishes of the TV presenter. In recent months, three events have been held at the Yeltsin Center, at which members of the Northern Military District in Ukraine and military officers spoke. The material dated February 26, in which the center’s employees called to “stop the war,” finally disappeared from the institution’s website.

“If this trend continues, the liberal public will see one of its main symbols in a completely different light, which was difficult to even imagine before February 24,” political scientist Marat Bashirov rejoiced in his TG channel.

However, the joy turned out to be premature. In an interview with the foreign agent media outlet Redaktiya, the director of the Yeltsin Center art gallery, Ilya Shipilovskikh, said that key functionaries of the presidential center are against the SVO.

“Yes, it was a common decision. Those people who work here... It’s hardly possible to speak directly for every employee, but among those who feel some kind of involvement in program activities, that is, in what the Yeltsin Center looks like externally, this was a unanimous position,” said Shipilovsky.

He also added that the public statement against the denazification of Ukraine was removed from the EC website due to statements received “from the authorities who noticed that there are laws prohibiting this.”

Let us note that at the end of June, employees of the Center for the Prevention of Extremism checked the Yeltsin Center for the presence of extremist literature.

Left forces in Russia regularly demand the closure of the Yeltsin Center and its renaming to the Stalin Center.
