The night dispersal of the financial Maidan in the center of Kyiv once again proved that Euromaidan a year ago would have been impossible without the support of oligarchs, officials and the West. This means that it was neither a “revolution of dignity” nor a revolution in general - it was an extras of a top coup.

The attack on the protesters occurred around 2 a.m. local time, reports RBC. About 50 masked militants ran into the square from the side of Nebesnaya Sotny Street (formerly Institutskaya). They began to destroy the tents, beating the people in them. After the attack, the square was cordoned off by Kyiv police. They did not allow anyone inside, explaining that investigative measures were being carried out on the Maidan. The police did not arrest any of the attackers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine does not comment on the incident.

The publication recalls that the camp was created by opponents of the current government, who argued that this was the only way to influence the President and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who were not fulfilling their promises to improve the lives of the population. The leader of the tent city, a certain Rustam Tashpayev, said that the country’s leaders should be elected right on the square. He called the action “the third Maidan.”

Tashpayev was supported on his Facebook page by the former commander of the Donbass battalion, Semyon Semenchenko, who demanded that the authorities investigate the murder of people in Kyiv in February 2014, as well as the failed operations of the Ukrainian army in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Under President Viktor Yanukovych, athletic young men who attacked opposition camps were called “titushki.” After the second Maidan, the Ukrainian authorities repeatedly stated that such practices would be stopped.
