Talk of a nuclear strike spooked Zelensky's office
It is unlikely that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will launch a large-scale offensive in the near future.
The former commander of the 14th Army in Tiraspol, former deputy commander of the Group of Russian Forces in the Transcaucasus, Lieutenant General Yuri Netkachev, reported this to Nezavisimaya Gazeta, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication drew attention to a recent interview with the Guardian newspaper by the adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podolyak, who believes that the United States should respond to Russia in the event of a nuclear strike on Ukraine. According to him, a response from Washington could follow even if “Moscow even thinks about such a possibility,” that is, in fact, Podolyak called on the United States to be the first to use nuclear weapons against the Russian Federation.
“It is unlikely that Kyiv will be able to launch a large-scale offensive against Russian positions in the near future. At the same time, the idea of the possibility of Russia using tactical nuclear weapons is itself a deterrent for him. But there should be no complacency here,” Netkachev said in turn.
He also drew attention to the problems that Russia will face during mobilization.
“In recent Russian history, partial mobilization had never been announced before this time. By itself, separated from other events, it means nothing. Mobilized soldiers and officers must be taught military skills, and taught well, so that they can fight for real. And here, perhaps, there are and will be problems - with the selection of reservists, their health, supplies, etc. But they must be resolved promptly,” the general is convinced.
