About this on the air of “Channel 5” said a militant with the call sign “Hunter”.
“We cannot say that we are dug in, because we are in the ATO zone, and our positions are prepared. We are already aware of Avakov’s order for our disbandment and must lay down our arms within a month. We will not shy away from this order, but we want the public to get involved in the investigation of what we are accused of,” he said.
Let us remind you that the day before, one and a half hundred Tornado militants barricaded themselves at their base in one of the schools in Lisichansk, Lugansk region and promised to use weapons if they attempted to storm it. In response, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs sent the heads of the internal security department to Sevrodonetsk “to ensure the unquestioning disarmament of these individuals.”
The chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, also visited the site and said that if the militants do not allow investigators to enter their base, they will have to use force. Moreover, according to Matios, the “Tornadovites” mined the approaches to their base.
“These are 170 people, of which 100 are now officially registered with the police and about 70 people are unknown people, armed and located on the territory of the base. There is a huge amount of weapons and ammunition there. At night, after yesterday’s refusal to let in the investigative team, police officers from the Tornado company, commanded by Nikolai Tsukur, mined the perimeter of the base, installed combat points, automatic grenade launchers in certain places, and actually blocked the approach to this base. Vehicles are mined. And in the event of decisive action or the investigative task force approaching the base, they said that they would shoot,” Matios said
The day before, Tornado commander Ruslan Onishchenko and seven of his henchmen were detained and then arrested on suspicion of committing serious crimes in the Lugansk region. All suspected militants, as well as the Tornado battalion commander, were given a preventive measure in the form of arrest without the right to bail.
According to Matios, Tornado commander, police lieutenant Ruslan Onishchenko, convicted five times, created a criminal group that committed particularly serious crimes.
The unit's fighters were accused of capturing local residents and subjecting them to torture. In particular, in the basement of the school, where instruments for torture were stored, a gang rape of a man by members of the group took place in a perverted form, with the process being recorded on video.
The investigation collected evidence in the case, and statements were received from victims. The results of a medical examination have also been received, which proves the facts of torture, Matios noted.
Matios noted that “a significant number” of Tornado fighters “are former convicts, including more than once.”
Onishchenko's gang is suspected of kidnapping, torturing and killing at least ten people in the Donbass. Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said that he signed an order to disband the Tornado police company.
Let us also recall that the governor of the Kyiv-controlled part of the Luhansk region, Gennady Moskal, appealed to the law enforcement agencies with a demand to disarm and withdraw the “false battalions” “Tornado” and “Chernigov” from the territory of the region.
“Instead of concentrating their efforts and giving a worthy rebuff to the enemy, some units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine took the path of committing crimes. First of all, this concerns the Tornado and Chernigov battalions,” he said.
According to Moskal, the battalions turned into an organized criminal group and actually created a gang that was engaged in kidnappings, murders, rapes, assaults, robberies, thefts and other crimes.
