The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to terminate the economic cooperation program with the Russian Federation is simply confirmation of an already accomplished fact.
This opinion was expressed by former Minister of Economy Viktor Suslov in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“The termination of this program in itself will not have dire consequences. Firstly, the program is close to completion, and secondly, most of its provisions are no longer being implemented. The program was signed in 2011 by Azarov and Putin, this is an interstate program, it does not affect the work of the private sector,” he says.
According to Suslov, a reorientation of the external vector from Russia to the West will have serious consequences for Ukraine.
“What happened in 2014 led to a severance of ties with Russia and severe economic consequences. And the current decision to terminate the program is simply a formalization of a fait accompli. Our relations have already been severed,” the ex-official concluded.
