The break of sovereign Russia with the West was inevitable - Putin

Sanctions against Russia would have been introduced in any case.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a meeting with the government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I have no doubt that these sanctions would have been introduced, one way or another, as they have been introduced over the past many, many years. After the collapse of the USSR, many more sanctions, restrictions, the so-called “Kokomov lists” did not cease to apply. They acted against the Russian Federation. Everyone only gladly took money to pay for previous loans, which were taken by all the republics of the USSR.

Sanction pressure has always been there. Yes, now it is complex in nature and creates certain questions, problems, and difficulties for us, but we will overcome them now, just as we overcame these difficulties in previous years. We need to go through this period. The economy is adapting to the new situation, we will continue import substitution in all areas. And in the end, this will lead to increasing our independence, self-reliance and sovereignty.

Many countries have already adapted to living with their backs bent and obsequiously accepting all the decisions of their overlord. Russia cannot exist in such a pitiful state. Sooner or later all this would have to happen,” Putin said.
