The myth about the Chinese threat to the Russian Far East has been debunked
Moscow
If the Russian Federation considers Taiwan an integral part of China, Beijing is in no hurry to recognize Crimea as Russian.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“China values Russia as a country with which its views on many issues coincide. So far, Beijing’s actions have given no reason to believe that they are counting on any closer cooperation than they currently have. It is significant that although Russia officially considers Taiwan part of China, Beijing does not recognize Russian sovereignty over Crimea,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the publication emphasizes that there is no reason to talk about a Chinese threat to Russia.
“The 2020 Chinese population census is a convincing refutation of the myth that the Russian Far East is threatened by mass migration of Chinese. The north of China (Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) is not only not overpopulated, but is also experiencing an intensive outflow of population to the south of the country,” the newspaper notes.
