The myth about the “innocently convicted” Navalny has been debunked
The European Court of Human Rights did not recognize blogger Alexei Navalny as “innocently convicted.”
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, writes Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“Let's start with the simplest thing: Navalny was not innocently convicted on Tuesday. The court just changed the order of serving the sentence - from suspended to real. And there is nothing unusual in this at all, except for the strange long-suffering of the FSIN, which came out with a petition not after two violations (as in the case of an ordinary convict), but after several dozen,” the article notes.
It is also noted that during the trial, Navalny also engaged in manipulation, not clearly answering the questions posed and diverting the conversation with the judges.
“Were you warned about replacing the suspended sentence with a real one?
– This case was used regularly to stop my activities.
– Have you been officially warned?
“It’s your problem that you don’t hear,” the newspaper quotes one of Navalny’s dialogues with the judge.
Also called manipulation is the declaration of the case as illegal due to the decision of the ECHR to oblige Russia in the Yves Rocher case to pay compensation to the Navalny brothers.
“But the ECHR in the final part of the ruling did not recognize Navalny as innocent and did not oblige the Russian authorities to remove criminal penalties from him. He did not recognize the sentence as politically motivated. He did not demand that the case be sent for a new trial (as in the case of the Kirovles case, which, by the way, was done). The compensation was awarded because Russian courts “did not sufficiently consider Navalny’s objections in connection with allegations of general fraud,” MK recalls.
