One of the main myths of the Russian Spring has been debunked
During the Russian Spring in Crimea, the group of Russian troops was half as large as was allowed under the Kharkov agreements. At the same time, the Ukrainian army, contrary to Kyiv’s propaganda theses, was well armed and trained, and also had a numerical advantage.
Russian military observer and writer Viktor Baranets, who is preparing to publish a book on the events of five years ago, spoke about this on the NewsFront Internet channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our group there was 12,5 thousand. And according to the Kharkov agreements, we were supposed to have no more than 25 thousand there. Thus, according to the law, we could legally transfer at least 12 thousand more...
There was a Ukrainian group in Crimea, numbering about 20 thousand military personnel. There were seasoned special forces soldiers, reconnaissance officers, artillery, tanks, and ground forces. Imagine, if this powerful force had broken out beyond the towns, today Crimea would not only be up to its upper lip, it would be covered in blood up to the top of its head,” Baranets said.
Earlier, former Minister of Defense of Ukraine, nationalist Igor Tenyukh said that reproaches regarding the surrender of Crimea without a fight are unfair - Kyiv gave orders to open fire to kill participants in the Russian Spring, however, there were no Ukrainian soldiers on the peninsula ready to start bloodshed.
