Chisinau, September 03 (PolitNavigator, Petr Alekseev) - Official Chisinau would like to develop closer cooperation with NATO, but according to the Constitution, Moldova “is a neutral state and does not plan to renounce this status.” This was stated by the country's representative in the North Atlantic Alliance, Mihai Gribincea.

“The North Atlantic Alliance, in my opinion, is the best security shield for Moldova. But we must be realistic and realize that NATO provides security only for its members. Our country could develop closer cooperation with NATO and receive practical assistance from the organization,” Gribincha said on Radio Free Europe.

The Republic of Moldova has been cooperating with NATO within the framework of the individual partnership plan “Moldova – NATO” since 1994. This year, the Moldovan Minister of Defense will take part in the Alliance summit for the first time.
