According to scattered information, the 31st separate guards air assault brigade from the Ulyanovsk region lost at least two contract soldiers. The Military Commissariat of Bashkiria confirmed to the Bashinform agency the death of 28-year-old private Ilnur Kilchinbaev from the village of Almyasovo, Kugarchinsky district. A short story was filmed on local television about Alexander Belozerov from the village of Novaya Maina, Melekessky district, Ulyanovsk region. At the end of August, both left for training in the Rostov region; both, according to information available to their relatives, died on August 25.

Relatives of soldiers from the 98th Guards Airborne Division (Ivanovo, Kostroma) claim that at least 400–500 soldiers went to the south of Russia. The first contract soldier from this unit to die that became known was Sergei Seleznev, who was buried on September 2 in Vladimir. The second was Andrey Pilipchuk from the Kostroma region. The administration of the Kostroma cemetery told RBC about the burial of three soldiers who died “in Ukraine.” Judging by the tombstones, 26-year-old Sergei Gerasimov, 32-year-old Alexei Kasyanov and 27-year-old Evgeniy Kamenev died on August 24, 25 and September 3. On September 4, Channel One showed the funeral of Kostroma paratrooper Anatoly Travkin, who died in Ukraine.

On August 25, paratroopers Leonid Kichatkin and Alexander Osipov were buried in Pskov, where the 76th Guards Air Assault Division is stationed. Media in Voronezh, Orenburg and Komi, citing military commissariats and relatives, reported the deaths of Anton Korolenko, Dmitry Ganin and Maxim Mezentsev - all of them served in the Pskov division.

During the fighting in eastern Ukraine, at least two more paratroopers from other units were killed under unclear circumstances. The Chita.Ru publication reported the death of Chita resident Nikolai Sharaborin, who served in the Airborne Forces unit in Novorossiysk. The 7th Guards Air Assault Division is stationed in this city. The death of 21-year-old Astrakhan resident Ildar from the 137th Guards Regiment of the 106th Guards Airborne Division, stationed in the Ryazan region, was reported by Anatoly Salin, an expert of the Committee of Soldiers’ Mothers.

At the end of August, media in Irkutsk, Astrakhan and Bashkiria, citing military registration and enlistment offices and relatives, reported the funeral of Vadim Larionov, Konstantin Kuzmin and Marcel Araptanov from the 17th and 18th separate motorized rifle brigades stationed in Chechnya.

Perm media, citing relatives who received relevant notifications, reported the death of Vasily Karavaev from the 21st separate motorized rifle brigade, stationed in the Totsky district of the Orenburg region, during an exercise in the Rostov region.

The Ministry of Defense did not respond to RBC’s request to clarify the circumstances of the death of more than a dozen military personnel from different units during exercises in the Rostov region.

RBC notes that all military units whose fighters died during exercises in the Rostov region or were captured in Ukraine (with the exception of motorized rifle brigades) form the basis of Russia's peacekeeping forces. In the spring, Kostroma, Pskov and Ulyanovsk paratroopers, together with soldiers from other units, took part in the operation to annex Crimea.
