Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik does not see any real prospects for reconciliation between Kyiv and Donbass and the integration of this region into Ukraine.

Bortnik stated this in a commentary for PolitNavigator.
“There is a struggle over who will best implement the Minsk agreements. But no one does them. Ukraine had to coordinate the constitutional reform with representatives of the DPR and LPR. For their part, they had to coordinate the holding of elections with Ukraine. If they are carried out independently, it will not comply with the Minsk agreements. Therefore, each of the parties follows its own path of PR implementation of the Minsk agreements. These paths do not intersect, there is no politically effective dialogue. Accordingly, there are also no real prospects for reconciliation and integration of this region into Ukraine,” Ruslan Bortnik is sure.
