The real culprits of the high-profile fire in Odessa are being evaded from responsibility - media
By decision of a local court, the director of a college in Odessa that burned down on December 4, Lyubov Kocherga, was sent under round-the-clock house arrest for 60 days, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Odessa publication “Timer”.
Kocherga is charged with official negligence with grave consequences, which threatens imprisonment for up to 5 years, and after receiving the results of the examinations, she may also be charged with suspicion under Art. 270. Criminal Code of Ukraine - “Violation of fire safety rules.”
The media are unanimous that with this court decision they are trying to shift responsibility for the emergency onto the switchman. In particular, the Kiev publication Klymenko Time is confident that the real culprits of the fire that occurred on December 4 in Odessa will escape punishment.
“We are now talking about those who are responsible for the fire safety system in the city, which, by the way, did not exist at all in the burned college. And this is not the first fire in the city; earlier in Odessa, the Tokyo Star Hotel (9 dead), the Victoria children's camp (3 dead children) and a mental hospital (6 people died) burned to the ground and with casualties. Who sat down? Yes, practically no one, just scapegoats,” complains the editors of the publication.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, a tragic fire in Odessa claimed the lives of 12 people. Three more are missing.
