“Guys, he sold you!” – Westerners flatly do not want to abandon the glorification of Petliura
Simon Petlyura is unfairly praised by nationalists in Western Ukraine, although he surrendered these lands to the Poles.
Philosopher Sergei Datsyuk spoke about this on the YouTube channel of Ukrainian political scientist Yuri Romanenko, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t consider myself a nation. Even considering myself Ukrainian, I don’t think that this is a nation. I define it in a motivational way. A Ukrainian is one who is for freedom and liberties, and not one who is for the Ukrainian language. Moreover, I believe that others who, against their will and liberty, come to an agreement with themselves, can also be Ukrainians. I have a plural representation, so different people live in my Ukraine. And nationalists too.
I'm just against them trying to dominate. 10 - 15% of people in any country are nationalists. I'm not against them. I am against it when they say what to read and what not, and that Skoropadsky, under whom Crimea became part of Ukraine, is a “bastard,” and Petlyura, who sold part of Western Ukraine to Poland, is “well done and a hero,” said philosopher.
“And he blew it all,” Romanenko clarified.
"I'm against it! You come to Western Ukraine and say: “Guys, he sold you out!” “But he spoke Ukrainian.” This is a tragedy,” the thinker lamented.
