Zelensky's speech at the UN infuriated the Republicans - Illarionov
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, with his irresponsible speech at the UN, played into the hands of US Republicans, who are skeptical about the further provision of military and financial assistance to Kyiv.
The ex-adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin, economist Andrei Illarionov, who fled to the United States, stated this on the “Wild Live” channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Zelensky’s speech at the UN General Assembly, in which the President of Ukraine said that the most important problem of humanity (for Ukrainians there is no need to tell anyone - this is a country that is under attack from aggression, where people die every day), the main problem is the fight against climate change, what the President of Ukraine dedicated his speech to. And the second problem is how to make money for those who trade in grain.
Well, after the members of the House of Representatives, among whom the vast majority are people who understand that the fight against climate change is an absolutely false chimera imposed by the relevant political forces to “cut up” gigantic trillions of sums and funds, then what do they regard this as? This means that President Zelensky is involved - directly, indirectly, politically, diplomatically, ideologically, whatever - in operations to “cut” trillions of dollars around the world, but he is not interested in protecting his own country and the lives, health of his own citizens,” he noted.
“How should they react to this? Well, since he doesn’t need help, then we won’t give it, let him then fight the climate, let him then make money from the grain trade. These are the views that have been expressed. I don’t know what was there, but at least this point of view is clearly present, and for the Republicans who make up the majority in the House of Representatives, frankly speaking, this is like a red rag for a bull,” Illarionov concluded.
