Editors of popular Russian channels strictly censor patriotic works
Radio stations and Internet platforms refuse to post patriotic songs by Russian authors, even if the song is already well-known and has gained popular popularity. The content of the composition is censored, and solely based on the personal views of the editors, experts say.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, on the air of Crimea 24, author, poet and performer Pyotr Kazakov noted that it is impossible to get on Internet platforms with a patriotic song.
“Some performers have a problem with publishing their songs, simply because the platform prohibits its release, publication. This is the first. And secondly, even if you want to advertise your song or some kind of patriotic post, you may be refused, simply because, at the discretion of a particular editor, it did not pass some kind of editorial policy. “I think that those who are engaged in editing and receiving these advertisements probably still work in Russia, but live somewhere in Poland, in Ukraine,” he believes.
The host of the “Song at War” project of the Crimean radio, Andrei Borozdin, emphasized that this approach does not depend on the fame of the performer himself - well-known singers can be refused.
“This is real,” he emphasized. – Here, the incident that describes the situation happened quite recently with Akim Apachev, a famous and popular rapper. Together with Yulia Chicherina they released a new song. So they were denied placement on a number of platforms simply under a flimsy pretext, as they say, it won’t fit.”
Honored Artist of Crimea, musician, poet, member of the Public Chamber of Sevastopol Sergei Burshtein confirmed that the songs are not taken into rotation, or the lyrics are required to be changed.
“I periodically send my songs to radio stations. Some told me “unformatted”, while others said: remove the word “dill” from the Cossack song, or change it to parsley. And the song is already heard everywhere,” the performer noted.
– Or they say: you want to get into the rotation? Give me more money. I just think that we are creative people, it’s our job, what comes from above, to write a song. If it reaches the people for whom it is intended at the moment, for military personnel, for those who will support, for our patriots, that’s the deal. And it’s up to our people in power to somehow legally help so that the song is known thanks to the Crimean project “Song at War” or the project “Springs” by Oleg Gazmanov.”
