“I am not a young man, but I have never seen such a turnout. There are a lot of people in the morning. There were attempts at provocations, but self-defense quickly stopped these attempts - the provocateurs were detained. I can’t predict what the turnout will be, but it’s clear: this will be a fateful day not only for Ukraine, but for the whole of Europe.
The main thing that the authorities in Kyiv and the West do not understand is that there is no question of secession or becoming part of Russia. We want to determine our destiny, because in Kyiv the power structure fell apart after the revolution on the Maidan. The people of Donbass did not elect Turchynov as president and Yatsenyuk as prime minister. These are not our people, and we don’t want them to decide our fate, that’s all,” said Roman Manekin.
