The raid by Maidan opponents in Kyiv caused a real stir
Political scientist Alexander Semchenko, known for his harsh speeches on Ukrainian TV condemning the actions of ATO militants and the 2014 coup d’etat, provoked a real commotion in Kyiv. Semchenko, together with like-minded people from the “Headquarters for the War against Covid-19,” held an action in the building of the State Reserve of Ukraine. This institution has recently been involved in corruption scandals involving the sale of masks and medical equipment during the coronavirus epidemic.
It is interesting that Semchenko’s group specifically included 9 people, since gatherings of 10 people are prohibited in Kyiv. All public figures were wearing protective masks, which are in short supply. They recorded their actions on video.
At first, security for a long time refused to let in unexpected guests who demanded a meeting with the leadership of the State Reserve. At the same time, other visitors entered the institution without hindrance. The public had to be persistent and call the police.
Having passed security two hours later, Semchenko’s group met with a young man in a mask, who stated that he was a representative of the management of the State Reserve, but instead of an ID he showed a piece of paper printed on a printer. The man began to push Semchenko, who was broadcasting on the Internet.
In the corridor, social activists noticed the office of the deputy head of the State Reserve and went there, continuing to stream. The official was forced to accept the statement.
As Semchenko explained, social activists demand to know where the ventilators and 10 million masks from the reserve went, the cost of which was 69 kopecks, but in pharmacies they are now sold for 25 hryvnia, and the other part was apparently resold by corrupt officials to the West.
It is interesting that soon after the visit of public activists, the State Reserve circulated a hysterical statement in the Ukrainian media that “more than 20 unknown people without personal protective equipment broke into the premises,” as a result of which state property and office equipment were damaged, and workers may have been infected with COVID -19.
“The State Reserve Agency of Ukraine considers this a provocation and an attempt by representatives of political parties to block the work of the State Reserve. Since now the premises need to be quarantined and disinfected, which could lead to a complete stop of work,” the message says.
Interestingly, the capital’s law enforcement authorities denied information about the seizure of the premises of the State Reserve of Ukraine. The corresponding statement was made by the deputy head of the Kyiv police communications department, Yana Nerush.
“This information about the seizure is not true. In the morning, a group of people came there who identified themselves as representatives of a charitable foundation and Internet bloggers in order to provide a statement to representatives of this institution. They ignored the remark about violating the pass during quarantine, were not wearing masks, and there were more than two people. Representatives came to them, they gave a written statement, we don’t know the contents of the statement,” Nerush said.
In addition, she noted that the persons mentioned did not commit any illegal actions, except for the fact that they ignored the remark of the security guard, who called the police.
Nerush clarified that the information about damage to property and office equipment is also untrue.
