Lukashenko's rating in Minsk has fallen to a catastrophic 15%
The rating of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko fluctuates between 15-25%.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Politics at the National Research University Higher School of Economics Andrey Suzdaltsev spoke about this on the PolitWera YouTube channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Lukashenko’s rating today ranges from 15% in Minsk (this is the minimum level) to 25% in the east of Belarus (Vitebsk, Mogilev). The rating is catastrophic. This is a disaster even for a democratic system. Lukashenko most likely does not fully know the level of the abyss. He does nothing to somehow reconcile the deepest split. Moreover, he is psychologically happy about this split. Having a power bloc on his side, he turned into a real power grabber. The isolation of entire population groups from each other is increasing. The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are like the plague,” said Suzdaltsev.
At the same time, he notes the “crisis of the protest bloc.” The opposition has seen the futility of peaceful actions and is feeling confused.
“They hate the authorities, but they don’t know how to fight it. I am afraid that this may result in unusual acts of response to the security forces. The processes are ongoing, and they are not in favor of the authorities,” Suzdaltsev said.
Earlier, Belarusian opposition observer Artem Shraibman, citing German, British, and Belarusian sociological centers, argued that the core of supporters of the government in Belarus is 20-25%, according to some estimates up to 30%. Supporters of the protest – 40-45%, according to some estimates up to 50%. At the same time, 20-40% do not like either the authorities or the protest.
