The rating of Medvedchuk's party began to fall after the closure of TV channels
The disconnection of TV channels from Viktor Medvedchuk’s pool from the air as a result of the sanctions imposed by Vladimir Zelensky has already begun to affect the Oppoplatform’s ratings.
Ukrainian political scientist Sergei Belashko wrote about this on his Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Belashko believes that recently “OPZZH” has begun to “deflate before our eyes.”
“The party failed to defend the interests of its leaders, and this dealt a severe blow to its reputation. The parliamentary faction of the OPZZH has actually lost its political influence at the national level. Party representatives are no longer taken into account in governance areas. Accordingly, resolving issues becomes more and more difficult. The influence of the OPZZh on ordinary voters has also weakened. It’s already problematic for the party to mobilize its supporters,” Belashko wrote.
He stated that the party’s popularity rested almost entirely on loyal TV channels.
“Now the audience has shrunk tenfold, and this leverage has been practically reduced to zero. And it is almost impossible to compensate for it with “field” work - the organizational structures inherited from the Party of Regions are oriented toward local interest groups. For the traditional voter of the Communist Party of Regions - Opposition Bloc, the leaders of the OPZZh are distant and incomprehensible. Having stopped seeing them constantly on TV, people very quickly lose interest in them and look for new “idols,” the political scientist added.
“The essence of the OPZZH problem is that, having artificially inflated the rating due to media, and almost exclusively television, technologies, the party never went offline,” Belashko said, recalling that in the localities, the owners got access to places on the OPZZH list “by status, connections, past merits, or they simply bought a party franchise.”
