“For five years in a row, the Russian agricultural industry has only been increasing production volumes, regardless of what cycles the economy is going through... Today we are harvesting such harvests that we were able to enter the top three leading countries in grain supplies to the world market,” he said, recalling that last year income from agricultural exports was higher than from arms exports.
Medvedev claims that it was possible to “achieve better results in the development of the agricultural sector than our predecessors over several decades in the USSR.”
“The level of food security has increased significantly. Russia can really feed itself without imported food supplies. The profitability of agricultural enterprises is growing, and it is becoming more profitable for both farmers and large agricultural holdings to work,” says the prime minister.
