The rector of a Kyiv university purchased goods for repairs with government funds, but appropriated them for himself, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This is stated in the message of the prosecutor's office of the city of Kyiv on a Facebook page.
“In 2017, the rector of the capital’s university, at the expense of the educational institution, purchased construction materials worth 270 thousand hryvnia. Among the items purchased were renovation goods, ceramic tiles, sanitary ware and furniture for bathrooms and kitchens. But the rector did not register the purchased items with the university, took them out of the territory of the educational institution and disposed of them at his own discretion,” the message says.
The offender was detained by the Darnitsa local prosecutor's office and the Darnitsa police department. He was charged with suspicion under the article “Appropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position.” The ex-rector now faces 5 to 8 years in prison.
