Repair of the Crimean Bridge is accelerating. Trucks are not allowed yet
Dismantling of the damaged spans began on the Crimean Bridge. The metal structures of the right side of the road crossing are cut into blocks and transported by barges to a special site.
At the same time, the bottom of the Kerch Strait is being cleared of debris from the spans and their fences, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Workers are dismantling reinforced concrete spans and dynamic vibration dampers that absorbed the shock wave from the October 8 explosion. Damaged structures are transported to the shore of Taman, where slipway zones have been built - locations for collecting new spans, which should be installed before the end of the year. More than 400 people and over 40 pieces of equipment work on site.
“We will increase the pace of work. First of all, it is necessary to speed up the repair of the railway part of the bridge; we will draw up a schedule in the near future,” Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said in his Telegram channel.
During repair and construction work, the speed of traffic on the Crimean Bridge is limited to 30 km per hour. Traffic remains restricted to passenger cars and buses only. Due to inspections before entering the bridge, traffic jams form. The waiting time can range from 20 minutes to several hours. It all depends on the complexity of the inspection - cars loaded with luggage are sent for x-rays.
Crimean trucks in line for the crossing.
Trucks use ferry or land routes through new regions. Four ferries operate on the line, although an additional vessel for transporting ro-ro cargo and equipment, the Composer Elza Ibragimova, was supposed to set out on the route on October 19.
Truck drivers are confused about how to use the land route under martial law and whether all cargo can be transported. Metal structures, tomato paste and coriander are not allowed to pass through the ferry crossing.
The Ministry of Transport of Crimea assures that the route to the Rostov region and back is open through the cities of Taganrog, Novoazovsk, Mariupol, Berdyansk, Melitopol and Dzhankoy. You can leave Crimea either independently or as part of a convoy, accompanied by traffic police officers. In the direction from Taganrog to Crimea, the formation of columns for freight transport is not provided.
Estimated travel time is about 7 hours (387 km). Stops are allowed only at stationary rest areas and gas stations.
