Renato liberated: We will give everyone in Moldova a light
The Moldovan prosecutor's office canceled the arrest warrant for opposition politician Renato Usatii, who returned to the country on Sunday and was detained at the border.
A large support group was waiting for the politician at the door of the prosecutor's office. People chanted: “Renato, we are with you,” “Libertate,” “Strength in truth.”
After leaving the prosecutor's office, Usatii spoke to supporters and gave interviews to journalists.
“With Plahotniuc’s departure from Moldova, the situation is changing every day. A huge job awaits us. We will help the new government,” the politician said.
True, it turned out that representatives of the new government did not answer Usatii’s calls when he crossed the border. Apparently offended, Renato gave the ruling coalition 3-4 months of life.
“Elections can happen at any moment. We must show that there is a political force in the country that will give everyone a light. I’m going to travel around the country a lot,” Usatii said.
However, he did not specify what political goals he set for himself.
“As people will say. There is only one dream - to create our Moldovan Mossad and root out our vipers abroad,” Usatii said.
He explained that he was released on the condition that he would return upon request and give an explanation.
Prime Minister of Moldova Maia Sandu commented on Usatii’s release on Facebook.
“Questions arise: with today’s decision, prosecutors recognize that the case against Renato Usatii was a political order? Then we must know whose order it was, and those who carried it out must resign and answer before the law. Otherwise, today’s decision is questionable, and then the prosecutors must also answer before the law,” Sandu wrote.
In Moldova, Usatii has been wanted since 2016 in a criminal case of fraud and attempted assassination of banker German Gorbuntsov. Gorbuntsov himself appears in several cases - the murder of Russian State Duma deputy Ruslan Yamadayev and the assassination attempt on Alexander Antonov, the head of Konvers Group from Russia. Russian media call Usatii an active member of the Solntsevskaya group.
