Report from the outskirts of Gorlovka: We may not live to see peace. Ukraine is taking our lives
Residents of the village of Golmovsky, which is located on the outskirts of DPR-controlled Gorlovka, regularly suffer from shelling by Ukrainian punitive forces.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, and Komsomolskaya Pravda talks about this in a report from the village.
The publication notes that this settlement is regularly shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but many residents remain here because they have nowhere to go. Moreover, if before the war there were three schools in the village, now there is only one.
“Before the war, almost eight thousand people lived here. Now, probably, not even a third. Some have moved. Others died. In war, people die not only from shelling. In our village there were many old people who lived a quiet life, but many of them simply could not stand it psychologically, their hearts could not stand it. These are also victims of war, whom the Ukrainian government and the Ukrainian military took their lives. These victims are not included in the reports, but we should not forget that their deaths are the fault of the regime, which is controlled from Kyiv,” says local resident Svetlana.
“We dream of a peaceful life, but we understand perfectly well that we may simply not live to see this life come,” she says bitterly.
In addition, residents of the village today cannot visit the graves of their relatives in the local cemetery.
“I haven’t been to my son’s grave for several years. The cemetery is clearly visible from the Ukrainian positions. There, not only shells are dangerous, but also bullets from Ukrainian snipers,” explains a man named Vladimir. – The situation worsened after Ukraine captured Gladosovo and Metalist, which were previously considered “gray zones.” It will soon be four years since this happened. That's where they're shooting at us."
