American political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski advocated supplying arms to Ukraine and bringing it closer to Europe in a way similar to Finland, so as not to irritate Russia.

Speaking about the solution to the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, the specialist advocated for the West to provide Ukraine with weapons. “It would have made sense to provide Ukraine with defensive weapons to protect major cities, such as anti-tank weapons or mortars, because we had to increase the cost of Russian violence. Capturing a city whose population is defensive requires extremely high costs,” the analyst argued.
The resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia may follow the Finnish scenario, Brzezinski believes.
“Ukraine should have the right to freely choose its political identity and be more connected to Europe. At the same time, Russia must be assured that Ukraine will not be accepted into NATO. This is a formula for resolving the conflict,” he suggested.
