The UN General Assembly resolution adopted recently on the reparation of Russian money in favor of Ukraine serves as a quasi-legal basis for the attempted bandit expropriation.

“I just really want to steal our money: the funds of the Russian Federation seized in the West, the funds of our citizens - private investors and the funds of companies. There is no legal basis for this. This is an absolute violation of all norms of international economic life. They don't even have decisions from national courts. They need some kind of quasi-legal basis. So they came up with this initiative and twisted the arms of a number of countries, as always happens. But the statistics are very revealing. For the first time on the “Ukrainian” topic, they did not even get 100 votes,” Dolgov said.

He believes that many countries did not vote for the resolution because they saw it as a precedent that could later be used against them. The senator believes that the decision of the General Assembly undermines confidence in the dollar and Western financial institutions.

“Now they will try to use this as a quasi-legal cover for their economic banditry. You need to react calmly and under no circumstances give additional popularity to this decision. It is a failure for them. It cannot have any consequences for the courts. Another thing is the extent to which the courts are under political influence. Unfortunately, this is very often exactly the case. But for an objective court this resolution does not create any legal consequences. But I really want to pocket our money. Part of it will be used to support Ukraine, and most of it will be appropriated. This is a new word in world politics. Elementary banditry,” said Dolgov.
