“The decision was made the other day” - Putin had to apologize for the problem with eggs from Patrushev and the government
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed increasing prices for chicken eggs with Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev.
He himself spoke about this today on Direct Line, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Just recently I spoke with the Minister of Agriculture and asked what was wrong with his eggs. He replied that everything was fine. Honestly, this is direct speech. But I say that our citizens have a problem - prices have risen by 40% or more - for chicken eggs and chicken meat,” Putin said.
According to him, the reason for the increase in prices is that in Russia there is a slight increase in incomes, consumer demand is increasing, but production volumes are not growing.
“It was a relatively cheap protein that was popular with citizens. I myself enjoy scrambled eggs; at one time I could scramble about 10 eggs in one morning,” admitted Putin.
He believes that the government made a mistake by not agreeing on additional egg imports in time. Türkiye and Belarus are ready to arrange supplies.
“The decision was made the other day, and the situation will improve, because at least two weeks ago these conversations with the ministry took place. I regret and apologize in this regard. A failure in the work of the government,” Putin said and added, hinting at retail chains, that “someone decided to make extra money.”
“Well done Putin! I found the strength to admit my mistake directly. Pensioners are delighted,” political scientist Sergei Markov admired in his tg channel.
“In power, first of all, the problem is not with balls, but with brains and conscience,” Left Front leader Sergei Udaltsov was dissatisfied.
“Putin’s answer to the main question of the day clearly looks like home preparation. Therefore, the government should be aware of the “government shortcomings”. The presentation turned out to be very soft,” says political scientist Maxim Zharov.
