By the decision of the Rada, Ukrainians were immediately impoverished by 120 billion
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in general bill No. 3279-D on changes to the state budget on 2020 year.
The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The document was presented by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal. According to him, budget revenues for 2020 are reduced by almost 120 billion hryvnia, and expenses increase by 82 billion. It also involves the creation of a fund to combat COVID-19.
However, the head of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, sharply criticized the bill.
“On corruption grounds, 120 billion hryvnia are taken. And this, consider, takes away the salaries, pensions, and possible lives of people who are left without work today. But in the hall, and in the presidium, and in the government box, they deeply care that Minister Umansky said that corruption has reached the scale of 120 billion hryvnia per year, and today this corruption will be legalized in the budget.
Also, you didn’t even look at the fact that today they are setting up a budget deficit that has never existed in our lives. This means that the country is being thrown into a debt hole, and if this budget is implemented, we will have a national debt that will equal GDP. This has never happened in the life of the country.
Are you thinking of voting for this? This will mean that all future generations of Ukrainians will pay for the debts that you are making today. Today they are withdrawing money from people with disabilities, regional budgets, low-income families, students, and doctors. Do you think this is a budget that needs to be supported? By taking away 120 billion, we are thrown into debt dependence for decades to come,” Tymoshenko was indignant.
The colleague was also supported by the deputy from European Solidarity Taras Batenko. He emphasized that representatives of the Kyiv authorities did not even bother to negotiate with the IMF regarding debt restructuring, which means they want to sell Ukraine completely.
After which, during the voting, the bill was supported by 249 parliamentarians out of 387 present, and the decision was made. According to the roll-call vote, five deputies from the Servant of the People spoke out against the budget changes, while Opposition Platform - For Life, European Solidarity, Batkivshchyna and Golos voted against the full number. “Servant of the People” was supported by the parliamentary groups “Trust” and “For the Future,” as well as some non-factional groups, including Speaker Dmitry Razumkov and Vice Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
