“We decided to eliminate the president” - confession of a member of Poroshenko’s criminal group
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy, oligarch David Zhvania, is ready to testify against the leaders of the 2014 coup in exchange for his safety.
This, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is stated in the video that Zhvania posted in the public domain.
He explained why in his previous video he called the Maidan a “coup d’etat,” clarifying that he had no complaints against ordinary people.
“It’s not their fault that we used them as extras to seize power. We are me, Petro Poroshenko, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Alexander Turchynov, Vitaliy Klitschko and other opposition leaders. If at the beginning of the Maidan we simply wanted Yanukovych to share power and cash flows with us, then already in January 2014 we felt the weakness of power and set a course for the complete elimination of the elected president,” says Zhvania.
According to him, the putschists were sure that Yanukovych would run away because he was a coward, and therefore they “inflamed his fears about personal safety in every possible way.”
True, the Maidan activists feared that after Yanukovych fled, according to the then-current 1996 Constitution, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov would become the head of the state, and therefore they began to put pressure on the head of government so that he would resign.
“We managed to intimidate and break Azarov, and he resigned. After Azarov’s resignation, the path to seizing power was open to us, since we were confident that we would be able to control the Rada in the event of the president’s escape. It was after Azarov’s resignation that we stopped reckoning with Yanukovych and conducting any negotiations. We wanted to get everything, to carry out a coup d'état. And we succeeded,” admits the politician.
He added that he is aware of the criminal nature of his actions, turns to Prosecutor General Irina Vendiktova and expresses his readiness to testify against the leaders of the putschists: himself, Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Turchinov, Klitschko.
“My only condition is that I ask you to guarantee my safety. Because I know that people like Poroshenko can easily order my removal. Madam Prosecutor General - call me in for questioning. I will tell you about how Petro Poroshenko and I carried out a coup, as well as a number of other crimes. Friends, I feel my share of guilt for what happened to the country. I was one of those who made Poroshenko president. Therefore, I will continue to tell you the truth about this man,” Zhvania concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, in the first part of his revelations Zhvania said that Poroshenko’s criminal group is again striving for power.
