Moscow - Simferopol, December 29 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Experts do not share the optimism of the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov, who promises that the problem with VISA and MasterCard will be resolved before the summer and during this time Crimea will connect to the Russian national payment system (NPS). There is still no necessary technology platform for it. An alternative to VISA and MasterCard will be created in another two years, but for now it’s better not to anger American “card” companies, writes МК.

The final decision on the format in which the IGs will operate in Russia should be made within the next three months. However, experts call this period unrealistic. There is still no technological platform for creating NPCs. In addition, domestic banks will not have time to prepare by March 31.
“They will need to join this payment system, go through all regulatory procedures, test data exchange and the possibility of issuing cards, update the regulatory framework, conduct training, that is, prepare for the real issue of these cards,” analyst Mikhail Kuzmin comments to MK. Moreover, in the context of falling oil prices and the weakening of the ruble, this issue may be postponed until better times. Thus, for the average consumer, nothing will change in the next two years - VISA and MasterCard will function, and we will continue to use them.
Unless, of course, new sanctions are announced against Russia. And then our cards will have to be used only within the country. In principle, there is a way out - to join the Chinese payment system Unionpay. But this again will take time. Therefore, to receive pensions, it is easier for Crimean residents to use the services of the same post office.
